The Essence of Fire
Art is the bridge that communicates beyond barriers, and unifies us into a common understanding between humans. Fire is an element that transforms us radically from the inside out, and when we learn to dance with it we realize how to be present in this moment in our power.
“Particles” was filmed during the Covid-19 Pandemic quarantine in October 2020 for the Soft Cage Films annual MetaGala. A year later, I see the depth of this piece in a new light - in its perspective of witnessing the performer while performer coalesces the pieces necessary to create the art, but it is only art as witnessed by all participants - and the art is different each time depending on the participants.
Art is a way to communicate deeper.
Today, ponder how the element of fire communicates with you in your daily life. Notice the particles that are affected by the element of fire - whether it is in the lights above you, your cellular mitochondria metabolizing particles into energy, the sun, a heater, any energy source, a candle ….
How can we revere fire in our daily life in a deeper way?
When does fire play a part to transmute our life, and do we notice this?
Why does fire draw us in so - in both fear & awe?
You are the fire. Your particles swirl and swoosh, only delineated by our thoughts of ownership over the particular flesh that we carry around with us… though we are in fact a large part of the world around us at all moments. Consider your particles as part of a greater whole within the universe.
Ponder away, dear readers! And enjoy the video. <3
